What should I expect from an assessment session?

In the initial assessment session, we can explore what you would like to achieve through therapy. It is an opportunity for you to gain an insight into how I work. We will go through the therapy contract, boundaries and limitations of the sessions. If you are happy to continue, we can find a date and time that is mutually agreeable to meet regularly.

How many sessions will I need?
During the initial assessment session, we can discuss how we are going to work together, and the number of sessions that might be helpful. For example, agree to 8 sessions to focus on social anxiety. We would also agree on when this could be reviewed, as this might change depending on the progress you are making. Sometimes people prefer to work more open-ended, with no set number of sessions. This is fine, we will still ensure we have regular reviews so we can check in on progress and see if there are ways of working that are more or less helpful.

Is everything I say in our sessions confidential?
Yes, it is. Everything that is shared in our sessions is kept in the strictest of confidence. However, there are certain circumstances where I may need to break confidentiality. The limits to confidentiality will be discussed in our assessment session.

What is the cancellation policy?
Regular attendance is key for the therapeutic process. This means regular weekly attendance is encouraged. With this in mind, the cancellation policy is at least one week’s notice for non-attendance the following week. This means that cancellations within one week of the session will regrettably be chargeable in full. For cancellations within the week, I will do my best to offer to rearrange if I can do so, however, this cannot be guaranteed and in the event of not being able to rearrange, this will be chargeable. I will also unfortunately not be able to hold a slot open for breaks longer than three weeks.
